Find instructions for your exact lock.

Get manufacturer resources for electronic, mechanical, biometric, and key locks. Start with your safe and lock model for reliable battery, code-change, and troubleshooting guidance.

How do I find the right safe lock instructions?

Identify both the safe model and the lock model. One safe series can be supplied with different locks, and similar-looking keypads can use different commands. Match the installed lock to the manual before changing a code or performing maintenance.

Have the model number, a photo of the keypad or dial, and your order information ready if you need help. Keep combinations and override codes private.

Electronic safe locks: batteries and code changes

How do I change my safe combination?

Use the programming sequence for the exact installed lock. Keep the door open while changing and testing the code, following the manual’s boltwork instructions. There is no universal reset-button or keypad sequence for all electronic safes.

What if the keypad battery dies?

Follow the lock manual for battery access, type, and replacement. Some locks provide external battery access; others have different procedures. Do not assume there is an override key. After replacement, test operation with the door open when possible.

Mechanical dial and push-button locks

A rotary combination dial and a mechanical push-button lock are different mechanisms. Use the manufacturer’s full opening sequence, including any final dial movement. Count number passes as instructed; a generic count of complete rotations can be misleading.

Combination changes on a mechanical dial may require a qualified technician. For a V-Line push-button lock, follow the matching product’s instructions and test repeatedly with the door open before locking your contents inside.

Biometric and fingerprint safe locks

Use your model’s enrollment procedure and confirm that each authorized fingerprint works with the door open. Maintain the battery and sensor as instructed. If the model includes an alternative access method, understand it before you need it. Enrollment counts, scan timing, and backup features vary by model.

Key locks and lost keys

Use the correct key and the manufacturer’s opening direction. Do not force a key, drill the lock, or apply an unapproved lubricant. If a key or combination is lost, contact the manufacturer or a qualified locksmith; proof of ownership may be required.

What should I do if the safe will not open?

  1. Identify the safe and lock models and check the matching manual.
  2. Check battery and lockout guidance for that model. Repeated attempts or disconnecting power can delay recovery on some locks.
  3. Stop if the handle, key, or dial resists normal operation.
  4. Contact support with the model, symptoms, and order details. Do not share your combination in a public message.
